Fit4Congress insights LIVE: Dresden’s MICE sector is shaping the future together
How is the MICE market developing in Germany? What trends are emerging for Dresden as a conference destination? And which issues does Dresden’s events industry need to tackle collectively in future? These questions took centre stage on 1 July 2026 at Fit4Congress insights LIVE at the Börse Dresden.
With Fit4Congress insights, Dresden Convention Service, part of Dresden Marketing GmbH, has created a forum for exchange and knowledge-sharing within Dresden’s MICE sector. The focus is on current developments in the meetings and congress market, reliable market data and direct dialogue with local partners. The aim is to share knowledge, discuss challenges together and generate ideas for the further development of Dresden as a MICE destination.
MICE trends: From Germany to Dresden
Following a welcome address by Corinne Miseer, Managing Director of Dresden Marketing GmbH, Prof. Dr Schreiber from the European Institute for the Conference Industry (EITW) provided an insight into developments in the German events market, drawing on the latest Meeting and Event Barometer.
Ina Duckstein from Dresden Marketing GmbH then turned her attention to the Dresden market. The findings of the Dresden Conference Barometer show how key developments in the German MICE market are also reflected in Dresden as a conference venue, and what distinctive features can be identified locally.
Dr Ralf Kunze explained how meaningful results are derived from the data of the Dresden Conference Barometer, providing an in-depth insight into the methodology and data analysis.
Before moving on to the joint workshop session, Romana Groß from Dresden Convention Service presented current measures and activities aimed at marketing and further developing Dresden as a MICE destination.
Working together on the future of Dresden as a MICE destination
The subsequent workshops focused on two key areas of action: the further development of the Dresden Conference Barometer as a central data tool and the future positioning of Dresden as a MICE destination.
Representatives from various sectors of the regional events industry contributed their experiences, questions and ideas. This generated numerous concrete suggestions regarding what information and data the sector will need in future, how existing tools can be further developed, and which topics are particularly relevant to Dresden’s competitiveness as a conference and congress destination.
In particular, the exchange between operational contacts, management and strategic decision-makers highlighted just how important collaboration within Dresden’s MICE sector is for the location’s future development.
The ideas will be incorporated into future work
The ideas and findings will form the basis for further work: they will be specifically refined, integrated into existing projects or pursued in collaboration with relevant stakeholders in Dresden’s MICE sector.
Fit4Congress insights once again demonstrates the added value of continuous knowledge transfer and close industry dialogue: together, market data is analysed, experiences are shared and concrete ideas for the future development of Dresden as a conference destination are generated.
Our sincere thanks go to all participants for their time, their perspectives and the lively discussions, as well as to the presenters for their in-depth insights. We would also like to thank the team at Börse Dresden for their support and for ensuring the event ran smoothly.
Dresden Convention Service will keep the industry informed about the resulting measures and further developments – with the shared aim of further developing Dresden as a successful and sustainable MICE destination.
