The Country House - One Place Two Museums: City Museum and Municipal Gallery

The Landhaus is located only a few metres from Dresden's Frauenkirche. The historic building with its classical columned hall, the late Baroque staircase and a representative banqueting hall as well as a cosy café area with garden offers the right ambience for receptions, concerts, lectures, readings and conferences. There is a backstage area for caterers (incl. electricity connections). Access and deliveries are possible via a side entrance.The history of the buildingThe "Land- und Steuerhaus" is considered the first important administrative building in Dresden after the Seven Years' War. It was built between 1770 and 1775 by the Dresden court architect Friedrich August Krubsacius. It was completely destroyed during the Second World War and rebuilt between 1963 and 65. Since 1966, it has been the home of the City Museum. In four halls with over 1,000 exhibits and more than 20 media stations, the museum offers visitors the opportunity to learn about 800 years of Dresden's history. The Municipal Gallery has also been located there since 2005. It presents a selection of paintings and sculptures from the 20th and 21st centuries.
