Out and about with historical figures

Guided city tours with a difference

How about a journey through time? City tours with historical figures take you back in time: Johann Friedrich Böttger, for example, introduces you to the secret art of “making gold”, while Count or Countess Brühl train you in the rules of formal etiquette at court. And the famous Saxon ruler, Augustus the Strong, is a particularly proud tour guide parading his city. Expect stories, legends, and surprising insights.

Welcome on board

Dresden is home to Sächsische Dampfschiffahrt, the world’s oldest and biggest paddle steamer fleet. Get on board one of the nine historic ships and see Dresden from a different perspective, not to mention one of Europe’s most beautiful river landscapes. Some of the 19th century vessels are still run with their historic engines and various themed tours offer many options.
