Hybrid Events at the Maritim Hotel & International Congress Centre

How and why to organise successful hybrid events in Dresden

It was one of the challenges of 2020/2021: to redesign event formats from scratch. In doing so, in our Maritim Hotel & International Congress Centre Dresden a hybrid event format has been created that combines face-to-face events on our premises with state-of-the-art hardware and software. Why exactly this is our "medium of choice" for forward-looking events and how exactly it works, you will find out in the following article.

A BRIEF LOOK BACK: What went on in 2020?

Around 2.3 million: That is the number of events that took place in Germany in 2020, despite the Corona pandemic, according to the "Meeting & EventBarometer 2020/2021". Of these, the largest share is accounted for by virtual events. However, another trend is emerging, especially among companies. If one compares the ratio of presence to hybrid, it is 5:1 on the corporate side. This proportion of hybrid events would not have been conceivable before the Corona pandemic. It should be mentioned that the importance of hybrid events could not yet be reliably measured for 2020 and the years thereafter, as face-to-face events were only possible with a few participants and thus the majority were held purely virtually.

"And the winner is...": 7 reasons why hybrid events are the event form of the future

  1. It is the ideal combination of an on-site meeting and virtual attendance, of traditional and modern, of real and digital.

  2. The Corona pandemic has removed the requirements for digital events technical as well as personal obstacles for both companies and employees.

  3. According to surveys, for example by the Ifo Institute, companies want to participate less often in trade fairs and instead set up their own events. Especially in B2B marketing, events have a high value, whereby the hybrid format is an important factor in inviting the widest possible audience.

  4. More and more companies are paying attention to Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR). At hybrid events, not all participants and speakers have to travel. And whenever travel is eliminated, the environment benefits.

  5. International speakers and participants can be added more easily and possibly more cheaply, thus adding value to the event.

  6. In contrast to purely virtual events, there is less concern about online fakes.

  7. It is easier to conduct surveys and also tracking of the connected participants is possible.

Quite specifically: How does "hybrid tagging" work in Maritim Hotel & International Congress Centre Dresden?

The most important thing first: you can relax when planning your hybrid conference and concentrate on the content of your event. Because we have developed a concept that meets all hygienic and legal requirements and also takes place in a completely contemporary way. We took up the challenge - to promote interaction between the real and digital conference without the two parts interfering with each other. The result was specifically equipped studio rooms in which we provide everything necessary:

Screening and recording equipment or online use

  • Equipped lighting, sound and video equipment

  • Camera(s) for transmission and recording

  • Over 40 sqm of recordable scene area

  • Backwalls for individual branding

  • Internet connection

  • Licences for web meetings

  • Hybrid or online use

  • Flexible room concept through partition walls

  • Modern seating concepts

  • Hygiene concept for ICD Dresden
