Dresden is working on a tourism strategy and a sustainability strategy

The state capital Dresden and DMG cordially invite all industry representatives to participate in these important strategic processes.

Tourism destinations worldwide are currently facing major challenges and profound change. On the one hand, the economic survival of an entire industry must be secured, and on the other hand, new demands in the tourism sector must be met - including digitalisation and sustainability. In this field of tension, Dresden must actively position itself as one of the most important and successful European cultural and city destinations and is currently creating the strategic basis for this.

This includes a first comprehensive tourism strategy for Dresden, which is to be available at the beginning of 2022 and is being developed by the Culture and Tourism Division of the state capital with the support of Dresden Marketing GmbH (DMG). The strategy is to highlight the challenges but also the potential of Dresden as a tourism destination. Based on this, fields of action, goals and measures are to be derived that can be implemented by the municipality and private sector actors. The aim is to ensure that the available resources can be used optimally to promote the tourism destination Dresden Elbland. The state capital Dresden is counting on extensive participation from the industry. The starting signal has already been given - through an online survey, which will be followed by a workshop and expert interviews.

Parallel to this, the DMG is working together with and on behalf of the state capital Dresden on a sustainability strategy for tourism in Dresden and has partners such as the Tourismusverband Dresden e.V. at its side. Because it is clear to everyone: sustainability is a central topic for the future of tourism. Tourists are increasingly making their travel decisions dependent on the sustainable offers and the corresponding attitude of the destination. In the business travel segment, especially in the congress and conference sector, sustainability is already a key decision criterion. Ultimately, tourism affects everyone - it brings strong sales to our region, creates jobs and makes everyone a host. At the same time, tourism offers the great opportunity to jointly shape the living spaces in the city and region in a sustainable, resilient and meaningful way.

The state capital Dresden and DMG cordially invite all industry representatives to get involved in these important strategy processes.
