The place of origin and still the centre of the Dresden State Art Collections is the Residence Palace in the heart of the old town. A large part of the collections united in the museum association can be traced back to the Kunstkammer of the Saxon electors and kings who once lived here.
A transparent membrane roof closes the castle courtyard, which has been open to the sky for centuries, and creates a new space which, in its function as a central foyer during the day, also provides the opportunity for a wide variety of events in the evening. It can accommodate up to 300 people. Of course, you can also combine the event with a visit to the museum at any time.
Castle chapel
Built between 1551 and 1553, it was the founding place of the Dresden Court and State Orchestra and Heinrich Schütz's place of work. After giving up its sacred use in 1737, the palace chapel reopened its doors in November 2025.
Today, it presents itself as an extraordinary venue: the masterfully reconstructed architecture with its ribbed vaulting creates unique acoustics that surpass even modern concert halls. The historic ambience, excellent sound quality and modern lighting and sound technology make the chapel a special venue for concerts and events.
Hans Nadler Hall
This functional room is located on the second floor of the Residenzschloss, in the immediate vicinity of the Green Vault. It is particularly suitable for receptions, conferences and film screenings, which can be rounded off with a visit to an exhibition. Thanks to its central location in the heart of the city center and its basic technical equipment, including presentation technology and a lectern, the room is also ideal for press conferences.
