In addition to Dresden, preliminary rounds will also be held in Bielefeld, Bremerhaven, Karlsruhe and Regensburg in 2026. Two participants from each preliminary round will go through to the German final. The grand national final will take place on July 1, 2026 in the Rudolf-Oetker-Halle in Bielefeld in front of a large audience.

The winner of the German final will represent Germany in the international FameLab competition.

Tickets for FameLab Dresden 2026 are now on sale. Admission is free of charge - but advance ticket reservations are required. If you want to be there live when young scientific talents bring complex topics to the stage in an understandable, entertaining and captivating way in just three minutes, you should secure your place early.

The jury
Experts from science and culture have been recruited for the jury, who will decide at the end of the event who will receive 1st and 2nd prize and thus be sent to the national final in Bielefeld.
The jury will evaluate the entries according to the international FameLab criteria of content, clarity and charisma - i.e. scientific quality, comprehensibility and stage presence.
The jury consists of:
Marion Schmidt, Chief Communication Officer (CCO) of the Technical University of Dresden
Prof. Svetlana Smertin, Professor of Rhythmics and Elementary Music Education at the Carl Maria von Weber University of Music Dresden
Prof. Gianaurelio Cuniberti, Professor of Materials Science and Nanotechnology at the Technical University of Dresden
Prof. Stefan Diez, Professor of BioNano Tools at the Technical University of Dresden
