Baroque and beyond: SocialSix explores Dresden

In August, the Dresden Convention Service invited the trade magazine Tagungswirtschaft and the SocialSix team to get to know the city as a congress and event location. For two days, hotels, event locations as well as business and science venues were on the agenda - and impressively demonstrated how Dresden combines history and future.

Day 1: History, industry and creativity
The event kicked off at the Penck Hotel Dresden, where Justine and Charlotte from SocialSix spent the night. With 174 rooms, six conference rooms and the works of artist A. R. Penck, the hotel combines art, design and professional infrastructure for meetings.

The Ostra-Areal showed just how diverse Dresden can be, with industrial halls, renovated studios and a lake stage for creative open-air formats. Just a few minutes away, the Löwensaal in the former bank building presented a completely different backdrop: a magnificent ballroom with artistic details - ideal for exclusive business events.

Finally, the Kraftwerk Mitte area combined culture, creative industries and business. In addition to modern event spaces, the Neonworx coworking space with its "art hall" and historic crane arm was also a hit. The visit was rounded off with a culinary tasting at the Lohrmanns Brew brewery.

The roof terrace of FELIX am Zwinger offered a special view over the city - a highlight for events with a panoramic perspective. The day concluded with the Corporate Events Forum - Meet MICE Dresden at the Transport Museum, where the versatility of museum spaces could be experienced between classic cars and interactive exhibits.

Day 2: Future topics and innovation
On the second day, the focus was on Dresden's role as a business and science location. CONFGAMES showed how event rallies transform classic formats into interactive experiences and create new forms of encounter.

At ostec GmbH, the focus was on the planned AI conference "Brains on Silicon". It will take place on October 22 and 23, 2025 at the International Congress Center Dresden and aims to build bridges between science, business and society.

The CeTI Bar in the TU Dresden Innovation Center offered futuristic insights: robots serve food here, while Ameca and robot dog Spot bring the interface between research and everyday life to life. The Cluster of Excellence also includes the launchhub42 ComSpace - a modular meeting place with a roof terrace that brings together start-ups, researchers and investors.

The bottom line
Dresden combines baroque and high-tech, history and innovation. The city offers an impressive variety in a very small space: from classic hotels and extraordinary event locations to places where future technologies are being developed. Dresden thus presents itself as a MICE destination that combines tradition and the future in a unique way.
