Over 250,000 visitors on site - The Finals 2025 in Dresden set a new record
- Event News
From July 31 to August 3, Dresden pulsated as a stage for top German sport. More than 250,000 people watched the Finals 2025 competitions live on site - a new spectator record for the multi-sport event.
A compact sporting event - in the middle of the city
The Finals 2025 were held at a total of eight sports venues within a radius of around 3.5 kilometers - including the Heinz Steyer Stadium, the JOYNEXT Arena, the BallsportARENA and the Teamsport Arena as well as attractive locations such as the Semper Opera House, Frauenkirche, Hafencity and Alberthafen. Short distances, striking backdrops and a high density of competition venues made Dresden an ideal host.
Wide range of sports, including many premieres
Athletes competed in a total of 20 sports, including seven newcomers: badminton, trampolining, seven-a-side rugby, sports acrobatics, fistball/wowball, flag football and lacrosse - a clear expansion of the program compared to previous years.
An event format that inspires
Lord Mayor Dirk Hilbert drew a consistently positive balance: "It was a great atmosphere in the city. We could have built twice as many spectator capacities in many arenas if it had somehow been possible. Our expectations were exceeded. It was a huge win for Dresden."
Hagen Boßdorf, Managing Director of Finals GmbH, praised the special atmosphere: "Aboveall, we have to thank the people of Dresden and their guests, they created an incredible atmosphere throughout the city. The proximity and compactness of Dresden was a big plus. It has never been so easy to see the diversity of top German sport up close."
Belit Onay, Lord Mayor of Hanover and host of the upcoming finals, added to the outlook: "These were impressive competitions with a great atmosphere. Dresden was an excellent host. We are taking a lot of impressions back to Hanover and are already looking forward to the 2026 finals here."
A Dresden moment that will stay with you
With record numbers, sporting diversity and an enthusiasm that engulfed the entire city, the 2025 Finals set new standards - for athletes, spectators and hosts alike.
